For our Semicolon project, we are aiming to reduce inaccessibility to female hygiene products among young girls in the Twin Cities, especially in regions where education status and average income are relatively low. Furthermore, by producing warm, soothing bread and cake rolls, we hope to communicate the message of self-care. We aspire to raise awareness to love ourselves as more and more people are increasingly overwhelmed with work, family, and other complications. Our passion for baked goods and aspirations to imprint on the community had always been at the core of what motivates us to continue Midnight Toast, which is why we had combined the two into the Semicolon project. Like how a semicolon suggests a short pause in the middle of two main clauses, we wish that everyone can take brief breaks in their busy schedules, pat themselves on the back, and recognize the importance of self-care. We also hope that Midnight Toast can evolve from being solely a business operating for profits into a medium of which we can both share our products while contributing to a cause we are passionate about. At the end of the day, we want to warm your morning, afternoon, night, (or whenever you desire), with a piece of bread.
WHAT WE ENVISION:
- When you order through our website, we will use ~70% of our profit from baked goods (~30% will go into baking supplies and other bakery necessities) to purchase female hygiene products for homeless youth shelters or low-income families.
- We have raised around $1200 (70 boxes of tampons and pads!) for our goal
